In the "Stat. Gazette on the Development of Health Industry in China, 2005" published by Department of Public Health, we can find that cancer is No.1 and No.3 killer for urban and rural residents respectively. According to the recent data used by the 06' Chinese Academic Conference on Cancer, there have been annually about 2.2 million people caught by cancer and 1.6 million died of it. Chinese cancer incidence rate has increased by 30%, but only half of patients with cancer could receive proper treatments. Moreover, the national five-year survive rate is less than 25%, and even the rate in metropolises such as Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin is only 40%, while the rate in the developed countries such as U.S.A. is as high as 68%.
The high mortality rate for cancer and its "suddenness" (we believe most patients were greatly shocked when they received their first reports) can easily scared people. However, depending on their medical experiences in America, SPRC suggests that cancer is a result of lasting unhealthy lifestyle and closely related to family history. Therefore, to monitor frequent discomforts in daily life is crucial to cancer prevention or medical intervention in the early stage.
